ICONSIAM
A riverside landmark on the Thonburi bank — the opposite side of the Chao Phraya from Bang Rak, and one of the few destinations in Bangkok genuinely easier to reach by boat than by road.
ICONSIAM stands at 299 Charoen Nakhon Road, in Khlong Ton Sai, Khlong San District — on the Thonburi bank, facing the Bang Rak side of the river. From Bang Rak it is a crossing rather than a journey across town, which is why the transport advice below is mostly about which boat, not which road.
How ICONSIAM says to get there
Rather than estimate a route, here is the guidance ICONSIAM publishes itself. Two of the options start from the same Silom Line the district sits on:
- By boat from Sathorn. BTS Saphan Taksin, Exit 2, then transit by boat at Sathorn Pier — the same pier the river services use as their BTS interchange.
- By rail via the Gold Line. BTS Krung Thon Buri, Exit 3, changing to the Gold Line for Charoen Nakhon station. Krung Thon Buri is the next Silom Line station after Saphan Taksin, on the far side of the river.
- By shuttle boat. ICONSIAM runs a shuttle service across the water. It is currently published as fare applies — it is no longer free, so budget for it rather than assume.
Neither route uses Oriental Pier (N1), which the boat operator currently lists as closed for renovation. Sathorn Pier is unaffected and is the interchange both this page and the river page rely on.
What is not published here
No walking distance or travel time from the hotel appears on this page. The hotel’s location is confirmed, but the journey time across the river depends on which boat you take and when, and an estimate presented as a fact is worse than no figure at all.
No shop, restaurant or event listing appears either. ICONSIAM changes its programme continuously and publishes it properly; a copy here would be out of date before it was useful.

ICONSIAM Pier is one of the 11 piers on the tourist boat route, which also calls at Sathorn Pier.
